Accommodation For Retired People
The Ogilvie Charities were founded in 1887 and run four sheltered housing schemes, two in Suffolk and two in Essex. These create a caring and supportive atmosphere for residents living independently in the self contained accommodation. Ogilvie Homes and Ogilvie Almshouses are in Aldringham near Leiston, Suffolk. Charles May House and Estella House are situated in central Colchester, Essex.
We are currently accepting applications for accommodation at all of our sites.
Regretfully the payment of all grants from funds administered by the Ogilvie Charities’ Trustees has been temporarily suspended. This will be reviewed in July 2020.
As well as providing accommodation for the elderly, The Ogilvie Charities also manage several grant making funds:
- Lump sums paid to other charities towards specific projects
- Grants towards household equipment for those in acute poverty
- To help carers afford holidays
- Grants towards the cost of education and training; preference is given to those who have lived in an orphanage and/or have been in care, who are visually impaired and those who have been found guilty of a criminal offence in a UK court.
